So I haven't been posting recently. Sorry about that. Life is a bit tough, and passing by really quickly. Anyway, something cool happened today. I went to Muriwai! I think I may have posted about it before on this blog, I can't remember. It was a good time and it has added to my pile of good things, so I shall describe it!
I went with two people. One is one of my closest and bestest friends. She's really incredible. The other is another close friend, who has just arrived back in New Zealand after spending two years in Canada. Canada is an odd place, with bears, maple syrup and the occasional Sasquatch.
The car ride to Muriwai was nice. It was great to hear about the adventures of Canada Boy, with all his experiences mountain climbing and aurora hunting. And Incredible Girl had great stories to tell too about finishing her studies.
Once we arrived we checked out the gannet colony. They're a migratory bird, which spends a lot of its life in Australia (BOOOOO!!!) before returning to New Zealand to breed. There's a couple of spots on the cliff that they sit, as well as off the coast on a stack of land. Some of them had their little baby gannets. So cute!! And a couple of them were close to the viewing platform, so it provided a splendid view. Captain Canada has a great camera with a super long zoom lens, so he got good photographs of gannets far away too.
Afterwards we checked out the beach. My favourite part was underneath where the gannets sat. A tunnel had formed between two sides of the cliff, and water flowed through it. It was fun going in, then being hit by waves. It was wet, but really enjoyable. I like having fun.
All in all it was a fantastic day with some stupendous people :)
