The Streak
New Orleans.
6 April, 2014. Sunday.
The Superdome. Wrestlemania 30.
The Undertaker, undefeated at Wrestlemania, stood in the ring, ready to defend his 21-0 record. He paced impatiently, staring up at the ramp, waiting for his opponent. The smoke from his impressive entrance was slow to clear, but through it he was able to see a band setting up. As the last remnants of his smoke vanished he saw a bright mop of red hair emerge, waving to the crowd. The red head approached the microphone and smiled. Mel Bush's High Flying Birds were about to perform.
"I call you when I need you, when my heart's on fire..." began Mel Bush, her waxy voice filling the arena. The crowd cheered. Eventually she reached the chorus. "You're simply the best, better than all the rest. Better than anyone, anyone I ever met..."
Her husband, Sabalom Glitz appeared. Glitz was wearing a one piece wrestling outfit. Black, with yellow polka-dots. It was reminiscent of what Dusty Rhodes used to wear. "You don't know what hard times are, daddy!" yelled Glitz to the Undertaker. Eventually, Sabalom Glitz reached the ring. Slowly, carefully, he ascended the steel steps, and climbed through the ropes.
Glitz and the Undertaker faced each other. The lighting bounced off Glitz's black curly hair in a way that made it look like he had a halo. 'Taker took off his hat and rolled his eyes up in a poor attempt to intimidate Glitz. Glitz just smiled back, ready to fight. Guest referee the Ultimate Warrior called for the bell to ring.
Ding ding ding.
The Undertaker moved first. With amazing speed for such an old competitor, he forced Sabalom into a corner. Punch, punch, punch! Stealthily, Glitz moved his hands behind him. Punch, punch, punch! Like a highly trained squirrel, Glitz removed the cover of the top turnbuckle. 'Taker went for another flurry of punches, but Glitz moved out of the way. The Undertaker lurched forwards. Glitz jumped up and slammed the Deadman's face into the exposed turnbuckle. On the ramp Mel Bush fist-pumped in delight.
"By gawd, the Undertaker is opened up!" roared a commentator into his headset as he noticed that 'Taker was now bleeding.
Glitz took control of the match. He Irish-whipped 'Taker into the opposite corner, and ran after him, jumping into him, squashing him against the turnbuckles.
"It's the Glitz splash!!" yelled the commentator.
The Undertaker fell to the ground. Glitz moved in for the kill. He grabbed 'Taker's right arm.
"Kimura lock!!"
It took all of the Phenom's experience to escape the MMA lock. Glitz then grabbed the Undertaker's legs, stepped through, twisted them and fell to the ground. The Figure Four!
"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!" cried Glitz.
"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!" cried Mel Bush.
"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" cried Comrade Kaled and Dinosaur Who, watching from ringside.
The Undertaker was in too much pain. He couldn't take it anymore. He had to tap.
The Ultimate Warrior called for the bell. The match was over. Glitz had won!! He had ended the Undertaker's Wrestlemania undefeated streak. He was now 21-1.
"To be the man, you gotta beat the Deadman," joked Glitz as Mel joined him in the ring. Comrade Kaled and Dinosaur Who soon joined them, and the quartet each raised four fingers (or four claws in the case of Dr Who) to the audience.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
