Eccles Cakes
Further proving that the Jon Pertwee Recipe book is indeed canon, this recipe shows that the recipe book predicted that Christopher ECCLESton would one day become Doctor Who
1/2 oz. butter
2 oz. currants
1 oz. chopped mix peel
1 oz. soft brown sugar
1/2 level teaspoon mixed spice
7 oz. flaky or puff pastry
milk to glaze
caster sugar
1) Melt butter in saucepan, stir in currants, peel, brown sugar, and spice.
2) Roll out pastry thinly and cut into rounds using a plain pastry cutter.
3) Put heaped teaspoon of filling on each circle, moisten edges with water, and draw up to enclose filling. Seal well.
4) Turn over, roll out to about 1/2 inch thickness, prick over top with fork and brush with milk. Sprinkle caster sugar over.
5) Bake at mark 7 (425'F.) for 15-20 minutes
The below picture is a lion statue outside of Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto. I went there in 2006.
